The Yachting Australia training department is dedicated to creating, reviewing and updating National Training Programs and the materials that supplement them. The National Training Programs provide a pathway for anybody wishing to enter the sport and to progress.

If you have a query about training, whether you are new to the sport or seeking to improve your skills, please check the "Contacts in Training" link below to ensure your query is directed to the correct person.

If you are new to sailing and would like to undergo some training, please look at the "Are you new to sailing" and "National Training Programs" information below.

If you are a sailing club or school seeking to provide the Yachting Australia course, please see the Yachting Australia Training Centre and National Training Program information below.

When you first learn to sail or drive a powerboat you are embarking upon a journey that could lead to a career if that was you wished. Many Yachting Australia qualifications and all of the experience that you gain have some value in the commercial world. Most people that work in the sailing or Yachting industry are not paid for their racing skills.

The types of work that people are engaged in vary widely and the Yachting Australia qualification may not be the only qualification that is required. For more information on where Yachting Australia qualifications can take you click on the following link
