Springsail is a three day spring school holiday junior coaching program which was run for many years by the Sabot Association. Since 2002, participation in the event has been broadened to include other junior classes and to ensure support from Yachting Australia and Yachting Victoria who are supplying their National Coaches to provide the best coaching possible. Each of the participating Class Associations will also be providing class coaches to provide detailed knowledge of each of the boats, and a familiar face to the sailors of each class.
The event is aimed at the beginning to mid-fleet sailors who may need just a bit more help to get them around the course, and with the support of both Yachting Australia and Yachting Victoria, the top end of the fleet is also well catered for. The clinic is well supervised by experienced coaches and parents. Entrants must have their own boat, boat storage is available during the event, however trailers will need to be removed. Packed lunch each day is included in the entry fee.
CAMP MANYUNG
There will be a camp at Camp Manyung for sailors aged between 7 and 15 years. All meals are provided from lunch on Saturday to lunch on Monday. Sailors are accommodated in bunk rooms with those of the same age and from the same class. The cost is $130 per child in addition to the entry fee, and must be included at the same time as the entry is submitted. The camp is a great way to meet new friends and catch up with old ones. There are tennis courts, basketball courts and other fun activities at the camp, so once you’ve finished sailing the fun carries on. The camp is fully supervised by “camp parents” so all you need to do is bring your sleeping bag, pillow and clothes for three days to Mornington Yacht Club on the Saturday, transport to and from Camp Manyung is arranged and you will need to be collected from Mornington Yacht Club on Monday afternoon – after presentation at about 4.30pm.
