National Powerboat Courses
Would your club like to offer Powerboat courses to its members but the club is not a Yachting Australia Training Centre (YATC)? Yachting Victoria is able to provide a list of YATC's who can run a course from your club or can facilitate these courses itself. Yachting Victoria has a number of experienced, qualified powerboat instructors and examiners who can run a powerboat course at your club, for your members and using the club boats – just give them a call and arrange the details.
The basic requirements to run a course is as follows:
Boats – suitably commercially registered vessels similar to the following: a planning hull vessel no less than of 4.5m and powered by at least one engine of no less than 20hp and a displacement hull vessel no less than 6m with an engine of 6hp or greater. The number of such boats required depends on the number of course participants.
Training room with an OHP, flipchart and whiteboard.
There are various reference books, documents and educational materials that can be purchased from Yachting Australia or provided by the Instructor.
