EVER been keen to start sailing, but too afraid to try?
Yachting Victoria's Boatshed at Albert Park Lake has the answer with the ideal venue and a range of classes for all adults wanting to learn to sail.
Manager Rod Austin said the adult classes had been a huge hit among first-time sailors. ``The conditions are great here at the lake and it's a safe environment,'' Mr Austin said. ``The adult classes aren't intimidating as everyone's a newcomer and you know everyone else is in the same boat as you are.''
Mr Austin said that by the end of each course: ``you should be able to jump on any boat and be a valuable sailing member''.
Jacqui Niall, of Hawthorn, started taking sailing lessons after watching her children take part in the highly successful Tackers program.
``I had never sailed before,'' Mrs Niall said. ``It's great to be learning a new skill''.
The Boatshed is an accredited Yachting Australia training centre which offers sailing and boating programs varying in length depending on the age, skill level and experience of participants.
Adult classes are held throughout the year. Women-only classes are also offered and no experience is required.
