Working with Children Bill Legislation has been passed and a regulatory impact statement has been issued. Yachting Victoria made a brief submission on this but the proposed removal of any fee for volunteers substantially reduces the impact on clubs of this initiative. The regulation is intended to be effective for sporting clubs in 2008/9, except for overnight camps which will be this year.
The Melbourne Stop Over of the Volvo Ocean Race how do clubs take advantage? Our information display stand at Waterfront City collected 700 names and address of people, around half of whom want to find out more about sailing, learning to sail and join a club. We loaded their details into OnBoard to enable clubs & training centres to contact them and invite them to their club. Thanks to the clubs and training centres that supported the stand, with money, information and volunteers. All clubs should have received a letter of thanks from the President of Yachting Victoria.
