Yachting Victoria Champions & Awards Night Congratulations to Albert Sailing Club for winning Yacht Club of the Year, and in doing so picking up a very rewarding cheque, courtesy of the sponsor VicHealth.
Rule 11 Affiliation Fees Review A full explanation is now available by Webcast please click here to access it (you will need sound to hear it). www.yachtingvictoria.com.au (under YV Committees/ General Meeting).  We still need details of membership from many clubs to complete this exercise as the specific categories and allocation of clubs is a best guess. The next steps are     - receive outstanding clubs membership information from clubs     - calculate the specific categories and fees levels (we have best guessed them in  the example used in the webcast)     - communicate to all clubs the proposed category applicable to them     - receive any feedback on the proposed motions     - provide clubs with the specific rule changes proposed these have now been mailed to your club as part of the Notice for the Annual General Meeting  If you have any queries please call or email.   Annual General Meeting Notice to be held Saturday September 23 at Sandringham Yacht Club at 2pm.  Notice has been mailed to your Club and is available at www.yachtingvictoria.com.au also under YV Committees / General Meetings. Election of YV Executive and Nominations nominations for the YV Executive are now open and close on Monday August 15, to give us the required 30 days prior to the AGM to notify all clubs. To access a nomination form click here. This is the group you elect to represent you and lead the sport and YV.  A nomination form has also been mailed to your club.
Club Conference and Survey The annual YV Club Conference will happen on the morning of the AGM, Saturday September 23. Click here to register theres no fee (but there is a late fee of $25 for bookings after September 15). An agenda for the Conference and a copy of the Annual Club Survey will be included your August e-newsletter.
Club Lease Arrangements YV is currently involved with a group of clubs reviewing their current position and arrangements with their landlords. If you would like to know more about this please email me ross@yachtingvictoria.com.au   Marine Safety Grants 2006/7 A summary of the successful Information night for YV Clubs appears at http://www.vic.yachting.org.au?13208m.   This program is about the reinvestment of over $5m that is collected in Boat & Licence registrations and is a great opportunity for clubs to secure funds for training of their valued volunteers of members of the public, or the development of boating facilities  (with $2.3m available in this category) . Applications close on August 16.
Draft Boating Coastal Action Plan is currently on its way to the Minister for approval.
Victorian Boating & Sailing Education Centre YV is currently working with Marine Safety Victoria on the evaluation of a Boat Shed similar to that operating in WA. YVs objective is to encourage more people into sailing and boating through education and training. Anyone who would like more information about the project please contact me.        
Upcoming Training Courses for Club Officials. If you would like a course conducted at your club or in your area please let Heather know. Generally courses can be run anywhere provided we have at least 12 participants. Upcoming courses include (details from Heather or on our website) - Club Race Officers   9th & 10th Sept at Chelsea YC - Instructors   Wed evenings in August in Sandringham

Our May Executive meeting was held at Mordialloc Sailing Club and we recently attended the Sorrento SCBC and RMYS Committee meetings. YV Executive and Staff are available and willing to come to your next club Committee or General meeting to answer your questions, explain issues and tell you more about the many good things that are happening at YV just ask .
